Three people, including a 35-day-old infant, were killed and two others injured after being hit by a car near Bhairahawa, the district headquarters of Rupandehi.

The police said the car, which was en route to Parasi of Bhairahawa from the Chhath Ghat, hit the pedestrians around 4.30 am on Monday.

According to DSP Shyamu Aryal at the Rupandehi District Police Office, two persons, including the injured mother of the infant, are being treated at the Bhairahawa-based Universal College of Medical Sciences.

The deceased have been identified as Pramila Kurmi (28) and Seema Kurmi (14). The name of the infant could not be ascertained, said the police.

Of the injured Bandana Kurmi (24) and Manju Kurmi (26), the former is said to be in serious condition.

It has been reported that police are yet to identify the car as they are looking for the vehicle.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said DSP Aryal. - RSS
