An unidentified group of people on Wednesday afternoon attacked Gurung, 46, from a Bhutanese refugee camp at Beldangi of Damak in Jhapa with khukuri, which led to his death. The incident took place at a bridge over the Ratuwa river, which is located near the border of Jhapa and Ilam districts.

Shortly after being informed, the police reached the incident site and rescued him. The injured Gurung was taken to Lifeline Hospital in Damak.

According to locals, he was referred to B&C Hospital in Birtamod where he died the same evening.
