Traffic Police have taken action against 3,617 drivers in Kathmandu valley in the last 24 hours. They were found violating traffic rules.

The traffic rule violators were given tickets at various places in the valley, said Assistant Spokesperson of Kathmandu Traffic Police, SP Abadesh Bista Chhetri.

According to Chhetri, 501 drivers were fined for parking on the sidewalk, 194 for honking horns unnecessarily, 245 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 123 for driving vehicles that were not in good condition, and 101 for driving vehicles without closing the doors.

Likewise, 95 drivers were fined for violating the road lane, while 67 were fined for violating the red light.

As many as 58 were fined for violating one-way rule, and 43 drivers were fined for carrying passengers beyond the vehicles’ capacity.

Chhetri said the clampdown against traffic rule violators will continue.
