The Election Commission on Wednesday appointed Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly. The elections are scheduled to take place on November 20.

District Judges of 77 districts have been appointed Chief Returning Officers of the same districts on the recommendation of the Judicial Council, the commission said in a statement on Wednesday.

Gazette second-class officials under judicial service have been appointed as returning officers on the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission in the remaining 88 constituencies. 

The appointments were made as per the House of Representatives Member Election Act, 2074, and the Provincial Assembly Member Election Act, 2074, the commission statement added. The appointments will come into effect from September 27.
