Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started removing all the unauthorised structures constructed at the Pashupati area. 

The demolition drive, which started weeks ago, is being closely monitored by Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen).

Issuing a notice, the KMC had asked businessmen to remove all the illegally constructed structures. 

Ashaman Sangat, chairperson of KMC-8, said the authorities had urged the public to remove the illegal structures built around the Pashupati area. After its repeated requests went unheeded, the metropolis started pulling down the structures in the area on Friday.

According to the ward office, the shops running without registration have been closed from Saturday.

The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) had been collecting rent from such illegally constructed structures. - RSS
