CIAA files graft case against five, including former Baglung deputy mayor
The anti-corruption watchdog has accused them of embezzling more than Rs 1.7 million
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case in the Special Court against five officials, including the former deputy mayor of Baglung Municipality.
The anti-corruption watchdog has lodged the case against former deputy mayor Surendra Khadka, former ward chairman Jeevan Acharya, Chief Administrative Officer Bhim Bahadur Kunwar, Acting Chief Administrative Officer Himalayajivi Upadhyaya, and Revenue Branch Member-Secretary Kashiram Sharma.
They have been charged with financial irregularities and bribe-taking while awarding contracts to operate stone, gravel, and sand mines in the municipality.
The CIAA has accused them of embezzling more than Rs 1.7 million.
