Nepal Minute - out of the ordinary

Education

All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), a student organisation close to CPN-Maoist Center, has launched a campaign to save Tribhuvan University which is Nepal's oldest and largest.

During an event at Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur on Wednesday. ANNISU-R announced the programme from August 31 to September 7.

As part of the symbolic programme, the students want to open the university for 24 hours and spread the message that the university doesn't remain closed anymore.

TU has remained closed or padlocked for weeks on end either by protesting students' or teachers' groups in recent months. Frequent closures have affected academic activities and the learning environment.

The Maoist students have demanded the resumption of classes affected by closures.
