A 35-year-old woman who was set on fire by her husband on August 6, succumbed to the burn injuries Sunday night.

The deceased is Pramila Devi Sada of Ramgopalpur municipality-8 in the Mahottari district.

Shankar Sada, the husband, allegedly set his wife and mother-in-law Reshma Devi Sada, 65, on fire by sprinkling kerosene while they were asleep around midnight.

The incident happened at Bhangaha Municipality-1 of the district.

Pramila had massive burn injuries including both hands and legs while her mother has sustained injuries to her hands, legs, and back. 

Following the incident, both the mother and daughter were taken to the Jabalpur Provincial Hospital.

Doctors referred them to Kathmandu as their treatment was not possible in Janakpur.

Shankar fled the scene soon after the incident. 

According to Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasad Pangeni, the woman died amidst the treatment in Kathmandu at late night Sunday while the mother is under treatment. 

The accused was arrested on August 11 from Samsi Rural Municipality near the Nepal-India border.
