The Tarakeshwor Municipality has reached an agreement with the authorities concerned to implement a drinking water project in the municipality. 

The municipality said that the first meeting of its newly elected people's representatives decided to implement 'One house, one water tap'. 

The agreement was reached between the federal government, the municipality and the local Goldhunga Mega Drinking Water Consumer Committee. The Rs 440 million project aims to benefit 4,875 households, said the municipality mayor Krishna Hari Maharjan. 

He added that the China Foundation and the municipality partnership project is in the phase of implementation. 

Similarly, detailed project report of some water projects like Andheri Khola, Alle Muhan, and Bhandare Muhan is in the process of implementation. The projects will be implemented with joint investment of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the municipality. 

The construction of a zipline in municipality-5, bungee jumping in ward-3, and a cable car station up to Tarakeshwor Mahadev Temple in Shivapuri National Park has progressed forward, he said.

Similarly, he said that the municipality had prioritised drinking water system, sewage and disaster management, tourism promotion, and installation of street lamps and CCTV cameras. 

Under infrastructure development, a four km road has been blacktopped, and RCC structures have been laid on 1.4 km until January 4 in the current fiscal year, 2022/23. Likewise, 2.6 km of road has been upgraded, and 334 meters of drainage system managed. 

Under the city illumination programme, 341 solar lamps were installed on the main and inner roads, he said. 

The process of carrying out physical structures reforms at Phutung Secondary School, Manmaiju Secondary School, Kalidevi Secondary School, Saraswati Basic Secondary School, Kalikasharan Secondary School, Gramin Aadarsha Multiple Campus and Nepal Rastriya College has reached its final stage, according to the municipality.
