Imagine being able to acquire a passport in approximately 15 minutes and a citizenship card in around an hour after you apply for those documents. That’s how the Kathmandu District Administration Office intends to proceed with their strategy.
The Kathmandu District Administration Office has started piloting the "Time Card" system in an effort to provide hassle-free services to service seekers.
Officials at the district administration say that the time card clock starts ticking when the service seekers submit applications with "all required documents" to the service providers.
DAO Service Menu:
- Timeline: Quasi-judicial verdicts within 60 days.
- Renewals and issuance of certificates in 30 minutes
- Infants’ identity cards to be issued in 30 or an hour
- Regular hearing of complaints from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
- Elderly and disabled people, pregnant women and new mothers need not stay on queue
- 75-year-olds will get a helper
Chief District Officer Ghana Shyam Upadhyay said the time card system came into force on Thursday.
Officials say service seekers will not have to spend long hours waiting for a variety of services that the District Administration Office usually provides.
The DAO plans to extend full service "within an hour" after department officials accept all documents and statements.
If everything goes as planned, the service seekers will be asked to go to the DAO on a designated day. They will not have to spend more than an hour for the given task.
