The major ruling parties have vowed to develop the government's Common Minimum Programme per the people's aspirations.

A meeting of the ruling parties at Baluwatar on Thursday formed a task force with CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli as its coordinator to prepare the programme.

Each ruling coalition partner will have a member on the task force. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane said the task force would prepare the Common Minimum Programme within five days.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN-UML Chair Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party President President Lamichhane and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair Rajendra Lingden, among other leaders, attended the meeting on Thursday.

Discussions were held with the intent that some new works have to be initiated since the present government is formed to fulfill the expectations of the people, Home Minister Lamichhane, who is also the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

He added that the meeting also held discussions on expanding the Council of Ministers and other contemporary issues.

An important exchange of views took place in the meeting regarding including in the Cabinet qualified subject experts who can work with high performance while expanding the Council of Ministers. He said today's meeting is a preliminary one, and the next meeting will be on Friday.

"Discussions have been held on preparing the common minimum programme to achieve the objectives. For what are we in the government is being laid out in the common minimum programme," he said, adding that rather than whether or not the Prime Minister should expand the Cabinet after taking the vote of confidence, the discussion focused on finalizing all the topics in a package.
